Hair loss in patients after bariatric surgery - Initial data
Bariatric surgery is a procedure that is being increasingly realized. The aim of our study is to evaluate the curve of hair loss by acute telogen effluvium after bariatric surgery. Our sample of patients consisted of 50 women with mean age around 47.2 years. Of these women, and 36 underwent Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, 5 had surgery for duodenal switch, gastric balloon used 3 and 4 used the gastric band. The trichogram held every 2 months until the end of 1st year postoperative showed high levels of telogen hairs during periods of 2 to 4 months after surgery in all women in the sample regardless of the type of surgery or procedure performed.
